Marc Huynen has spent many years supporting the development of young talent in Limburg and the Euregio as a trumpeter, conductor, arranger, and jazz educator. To mark his 60th birthday on 02 July 2026 a special tribute celebrating Marc and his dedication to music and young musicians was held at the Muziekgieterij in Maastricht, where he performed as a guest soloist. He was also presented with a special ‘Tribute Book’, featuring personal contributions from more than 80 colleagues, musicians, former students, and others who have been part of his musical journey.
Marc performed his solo parts on his OIRAM Fresu flugelhorn and OIRAM II trumpet.
Marc: It was a wonderful evening; it was a real treat to be able to spend the evening with my family and all my friends in the music world. Thanks to the people who organized it and everyone who was there!
Below is a small excerpt from the ‘Tribute Book’
Marc and Hub had a friendly and also special relationship. When Hub suddenly passed away in 2022, Marc was the first person I thought of to arrange the music for the funeral ceremony. He agreed right away, and the result was overwhelming. The ceremony could be watched via a livestream. Not only top musicians from around the world but also non-musicians from the village were—and still are—impressed by it.
