Igor Iofe

Igor Iofe is a composer and trumpet player from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, who is currently based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. From 2019 Igor has focussed on Armenian traditional duduk repertoire, which he performs on his Van Laar® Quartertone trumpet. He brings the beauty and warmth of the duduk’s sound into his trumpet playing. Thanks to the unique qualities of the Van Laar® Quartertone trumpet he can play authentic ornaments and non-equal tempered modes effortlessly.

The Van Laar® Quartertone is simply the best trumpet I have ever played on, and it is a very beautiful horn! The sound is very round, dark, rich while at the same time it is big and powerful. Its wide dynamic range encourages me to broaden my comfort zone. The intonation is very precise, and the fourth valve opens a whole new world of microtonal ornamentation and tuning adjustment. I enjoy playing it every time!
