It was such a pleasure visiting Van Laar once again in Margraten, there’s been so many developments since my last visit in 2014.
The range of trumpets has been greatly expanded, there truly is a trumpet for every personal requirement. The new (to me at least) 9 series trumpets were of particular interest, I’m primarily a small group jazz soloist and was looking for a horn with a dark core and free blowing feel, I found exactly what I was looking for in the 9.2.
After receiving the 9.2 last week, I’ve used her on gigs and rehearsals, I’ve been knocked out by the instrument, it has excellent intonation, slots securely, has super-fast valves and above all a wonderful broad dark sound…
We all miss Hub and feel the loss in our community, but I think the work Heidrun and Yannic are continuing would put a big smile on his face and make him extremely proud that the Van Laar legacy is in safe hands thanks to everyone involved in the Van Laar family.
