B9R
The B9R trumpet was developed by van Laar together with Richard Didden, who was looking for a light, bright lead instrument which was not strenuous to play. The letter “R” stands for Yannic’s surname, Roijen, and Richard’s first name.
The instrument is outstanding not only for its exceptional light weight but also for its remarkably bright and penetrative tone, also making it particularly suitable for a lead role. Its sound ranges from the deepest bass notes to the very highest register. Thanks to its extreme light weight, this instrument can be played for a lengthy time without strain. One might call the B9R a “Mega Lightweight Allrounder”.
